VPN for Jio, Airtel and Wi-Fi

Operator networks filter differently from campus Wi-Fi, and both differ from a hostel router. This section covers Jio, Airtel, Vi and BSNL, plus college, office and public Wi-Fi: what blocks there, what still connects, and how to set it up.

Why the network you are on matters

The same VPN can fly on Airtel broadband and crawl on a college Wi-Fi. Operators like Jio and Airtel use deep packet inspection to recognise VPN protocols and slow them; campus and office networks use a proxy or a firewall that blocks whole categories of sites; hostel routers sometimes block everything but a few ports.

VLESS with Reality was designed for exactly this. Its traffic looks like a normal TLS session to a real website, so an operator has nothing to throttle and a campus filter has nothing to categorise. The pages below cover what is specific to each network.

02

Networks in this section

  • Jio: mobile data, 5G and JioFiber. The most common line in India and the one we test on first.
  • Airtel: mobile and Airtel Xstream broadband. Stricter throttling of OpenVPN than Jio.
  • Vi (Vodafone Idea): fewer blocks, more congestion at peak hours.
  • BSNL: older equipment, occasionally blocks non-standard ports.
  • College and school Wi-Fi: proxies that block social media, streaming and games.
  • Office Wi-Fi: category filters and sometimes a mandatory proxy.
  • Public Wi-Fi in airports, cafes and trains: not filtered much, but not yours either.

Setup is the same everywhere

  1. 1Get your key in the Telegram bot: five days free, no card.
  2. 2Paste it into v2rayNG, Hiddify, Streisand, V2Box or NekoRay.
  3. 3Pick United Arab Emirates or Singapore, connect, and confirm on the What is my IP page that the ISP line no longer shows your operator.

04

Honest expectations

  • It works on every network that allows outbound HTTPS on port 443, which is nearly all of them.
  • It does not work on a network that blocks all outbound traffic except a whitelist. Rare, but some corporate networks do it, and no VPN gets through.
  • It does not give you free internet on Jio or Airtel. If your search was for a trick to bypass the data plan, that is not what this is.

05

Speed on Indian operators

From a Jio or Airtel line in Mumbai, Delhi or Bengaluru the UAE server adds about 38 ms and Singapore about 44 ms. Throughput stays at whatever your plan gives you; the tunnel does not cap it. On congested Vi lines at peak hours the VPN neither helps nor hurts; congestion is on your side of the tunnel.

06

Public Wi-Fi is a different problem

On airport or cafe Wi-Fi nothing is usually blocked, but the network belongs to someone else. The tunnel encrypts everything between your device and our server, so the router owner sees one HTTPS session and nothing else. That, not unblocking, is the reason to keep it on in a train or a hotel.

What we know about you: almost nothing

There is no account here. You never give us an email, a phone number or a name, so there is no profile to leak, sell or hand over. We know that a key exists and when it expires. We do not know what you open with it. Our servers are outside India, which puts us out of scope of the CERT-In directive requiring providers to store user records for five years. Providers who kept servers inside the country had to choose between complying and leaving, and most of them left. We are telling you where we stand instead of implying we are beyond every jurisdiction, which no one is.

FAQ

Questions people ask before the first key

  • Which VPN works on Jio?

Any VPN whose protocol Jio does not throttle. VLESS with Reality passes as ordinary HTTPS and works on Jio 4G, 5G and JioFiber without APN changes.

  • Does Airtel block VPNs?

Airtel throttles OpenVPN and WireGuard more aggressively than Jio. It does not identify Reality traffic, so the key works normally there.

  • Will it work on my college Wi-Fi?

If the network allows HTTPS on port 443, yes. The campus filter sees one TLS session to an unremarkable site.

  • Does it give free internet on Jio or Airtel?

No. It uses your existing data plan. Searches for free internet tricks lead to operator settings hacks, and we do not do those.

  • Is one key enough for phone and home broadband?

Yes. One key covers five devices, so your Jio phone and your Airtel router at home can use the same one.
