What is really blocked and what is not

India blocks apps at two levels. Some are removed from the stores and their servers are unreachable from Indian networks: TikTok since 2020, CapCut and other ByteDance apps after it. Others are fully available, and people search for a VPN for them out of habit copied from Western guides: Netflix, JioHotstar, Prime Video and Spotify all work here without one.

What we see is that a key was issued and the date it runs out; what you do with it stays off our records. The CERT-In directive of 2022 binds only providers with servers in India, obliging them to store five years of user records. Ours are all abroad, out of its reach, as are those of most privacy-minded services. That is one rule we sit outside, not every jurisdiction, and we do not pretend otherwise.

Questions people ask before the first key

  • Does a VPN unblock every app in India?

    No. It gets you to a server in a country where the app's servers answer. It does not sign you into a store from another country by itself; for store-only apps you also need a foreign store account or the APK.

  • Which server should I pick for apps?

    The one named on the app's page. For CapCut and TikTok the UAE and Singapore are fastest from India.

  • Why does the app still say not available after I connect?

    It cached the earlier check. Close the app completely with the tunnel already on, then open it again.

  • Do I need a VPN for Netflix or Hotstar in India?

    No. Both are available in India. A VPN only changes which regional catalogue you see.

  • Is it legal to use a VPN for apps in India?

    Using a VPN is legal in India. What the law regulates is providers with servers in the country, which is why ours are outside it.
