How the ISP is found
Every public IP address belongs to a block registered to an organisation in the regional internet registry, for India that is APNIC and its Indian registry IRINN. The tool looks up the block your address belongs to and shows the organisation: for most people here that is Jio, Airtel, Vi or BSNL, for a hostel or office it may be the campus or a local cable operator.
What this line does not show is your account, your name or your plan. It is the network's name, the same one every website sees when you connect.
What people mean by ISP number
- The ASN, the autonomous system number of the provider, for example AS55836 for Jio or AS24560 for Airtel. Shown next to the name.
- Your public IP address, which people sometimes call the ISP number; it is on the What is my IP page.
- The customer or account number on your bill, which no website can see and this tool does not show.
Check before and after a VPN
- 1Open the tool on your normal connection: it names your operator.
- 2Connect your VLESS key and reload: the ISP should change to the server's hosting provider in the UAE, Singapore or wherever you connected.
- 3If it still shows Jio or Airtel, the tunnel is not on or the browser is not routed.
Why the ISP line matters
On unfamiliar Wi-Fi
In an airport, a cafe or a train the ISP line tells you whose network you are on. It is also the reason to keep a VPN on there: the tunnel hides everything but one HTTPS session from whoever runs that router.
Honest limits
Registry data lags reality: a block recently moved between providers may still show the old name for a while. The city next to it is the registration city, not your location. Nothing here is stored.

How little we know about you
You do not sign up, so we never get your name, email address or phone number, and no profile exists to leak, sell or pass on. What we see is that a key was issued and the date it runs out; what you do with it stays off our records. The CERT-In directive of 2022 binds only providers with servers in India, obliging them to store five years of user records. Ours are all abroad, out of its reach, as are those of most privacy-minded services. That is one rule we sit outside, not every jurisdiction, and we do not pretend otherwise.
